The thoughts of Kyoto go out to the people of Kathmandu at this time of tragedy in a poem connecting the two cities by A.J. Dickinson…

here then gone

here
gliding low
over wild duck river

a grey imperial crane
lands stands looks
takes wing again

there
tears devastation
destruction suffering

kathmandu
boudanath stupas
broken in a great quake

so many dear friends
momentarily sparkling
such flowing waters below

gone
in wind in sun
in rain in pain in dust

leaving
the great crane
alight over us
